Flare Systems Design

The flare system is to handle discharged fuel gas under the conditions of normal operation, startup, shutdown and emergencies, which ensure the gas to be flashed out instantly, safely and reliably and to meet the demand of environmental protection .



The flare system is a kind of safety equipment comprised of plumbing, knock out device, fire retardant equipment, flare burner, ignition system, flare boom and other components.



Categories of the enlargement:

* Based on the physical parameters of the vent gas medium (mainly for the vent gas media toxicity), discharge pressure, flow rate and so on, the flare will be divided into two categories - high flare and earth flare.



* High flare , based on the way of support, will be divided into self-supported flare, inhaul supported flare and tower supported flare . The enlargement supported tower, based on types of the amount to be fixed, will be divided tower fixed on the flare supported, tower demountable supported flare.



* Ground flare , based on the vent gas treatment capability, will be divided into enclosed ground flaring and open ground flare. See Flare system design for more information



* Based on flare burner structure, flare will be divided into steam-assist flare, forced draft flare widening, flare off, LHV flare, multi-hole bump flare, sonic flare, etc.

 Principle of operation / flow process

Ground Flare System:Fuel gas is discharged from the production equipment, passes on the flaring battery boundary by the vent pipe network, flows into the knockout cylinder for the separation of liquid droplets likely contained in the vent gas, flows into the water seal cylinder and breaks through the water seal, and then flows into the main gas collecting the pipe. Based on the vent gas pressure inside the main pipe, the control valves in various staged branches are automatically opened to match up the flare gas flow rate and to ensure the corresponding branch burners to burn lower without some high pressure smoke. The burners that correspond to the staged branches are arranged inside the enclosure or enclosed fence, so the flame is invisible from the outside. Safety protection devices, such as break disks or valves etc. of the break pin, are arranged in branch diversion to ensure safety.
